Portlights

A portlight is a fixed circular window primarily utilised in industrial and marine door applications. The assembly comprises clear glass secured within a robust metal surround. Whilst portlights share visual similarities with traditional portholes, they remain permanently sealed and serve distinctly different operational purposes. These components are also commonly referred to as sidelights, side scuttles, or deadlights within the maritime sector. At Rob Snel, we supply premium aluminium and brass portlights available in diameters of 200mm, 250mm, and 300mm. Each unit features 12mm toughened glass construction, ensuring exceptional durability and impact resistance for demanding marine environments.

    The benefits of portlights

    Portlights offer the following benefits:

    • They let in daylight or other light. This makes the space behind the door in question less dark and drab.
    • You have the ability to see what or who is on the other side of the door. This provides extra safety.
    • The glass of a portlight is tempered and 12 millimetres thick. As a result, this window can take a good hit and will last a long time.

    Portlight of aluminium or brass: choose the portlight you need

    Our range includes portlights of aluminium and brass. An aluminium portlight is available with a diameter of 200 mm and 250 mm. The brass portlight is available with a diameter of 200 mm, 250 mm and 300 mm.

    By default, all our portlights have 8, 10 or 12 drill holes (depending on the diameter). But the portlights can be delivered undrilled by request.
